The Austrian Academic Software Initiative ASI is a project group at the University of Klagenfurt and a joint initiative of the university and

WISL (Workshop for intercultural and social learning).

Its aim is to promote scientific discourse on interactive media and their production, distribution and adequate use in higher education and research.

The main activities of ASI are:

European Academic Software Award EASA 96

EASA 96 is coordinated by ASI. The finals and award ceremony will take place in Klagenfurt (30 May to 1 June, 1996).

European Academic Software Initiative EASI

Preparatory work for a European project (ANSWER - Academic Network for Software in Education and Research) to create a networked software pool for authors, suppliers and users of academic software

Electronic discussion forum EDF

Initiation of an electronic discussion for authors and users of interactive media for teaching, learning and research

Models of cooperation between university, policy makers and software industry

In the framework of the project "Software in University Teaching" representatives of the ministry, universities and software companies come together to develop models of cooperation with the aim of promoting the cost-effective and innovative productio n and use of academic software.

Partners and cooperation

Through its past and present activities, the Austrian Academic Software Initiative and WISL have become partners of similar organizations in a range of European countries.
