Where do I have to register once I am in Austria?

Students from E.U. member countries

Staying in Austria for more than 3 months must register within 3 months after their arrival not only at the Meldeamt, but also at the Admistrative District Authority – Immigration Office (Bezirkshauptmannschaft) and obtain a confirmation of registration (“Anmeldebescheinigung”). This should be done after you registered at the University and the Meldeamt (registration office).

Students from non-E.U. member countries

Having entered Austria without valid visa need to apply for a Residence Permit. For further information, please contact Ms. Buffa (elena.buffa@aau.at)

Moreover, there will be guided tours through the university and the library in German and English.

Who has to sign my Learning Agreement at the beginning of the semester?

Your Learning Agreement has to be signed by your academic coordinator and by the International Office (in the order). Once you are in Klagenfurt you have to see your academic coordinator and ask for her/his approval of your choice of courses. In case of changes in the Learning Agreement please see your coordinator first. As soon as you have his/her signature, you can come to the International Office for the second signature.

Can I participate at the German Intensive Course prior to the semester?

Yes, you can attend the course if you register in time at the office of our Language Lab "Deutsch in Österreich" http://dia.uni-klu.ac.at/ulg_programmstudis_e.htm. Please note that you have to pay the course fee on your own.

How can I enroll for German semester courses?

You can attend regular German courses of the Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt which start at the beginning of the semester (March and October). Please find attached the link for more information:  http://dia.uni-klu.ac.at/ulg_programmstudis_e.htm

This depends on the course/s you would like to attend. Exchange students within the framework of a bilateral agreement like Erasmus or Joint-Study can attend the General Language Course  for free! Please note that there are reduced fees for other German semester courses. For more information please visit the homepage of your Language Lab "Deutsch in Österreich" http://dia.uni-klu.ac.at.at/ulg_programmstudis_e.htm

Will my Transcript of Records be automatically sent to my Home University?

No! As we don’t know when all of your grades are ready, you have to check your account regularly and let us know as soon as you’ve received all of them.

What do I have to do to get my Transcript of Records?

After logging in through our homepage (www.uni-klu.ac.at) you can see the list of your grades following the link “meine Zeugnisse”. The grades that appear black on the list have already been inserted into the system and confirmed by the departments and the admission office. You can print out the list any time yourself by clicking on „meine Bestätigungen“, and then „Studienerfolgsnachweis generieren“.  The list you are able to print out is accepted by some of our partner universities, please check, however, if you need an official Transcript of Records. If this is the case, you have to contact us:

Erasmus: Ms. Michaela Holzweber/International Office/ Universitätsstraße 65-67/ 9020 Klagenfurt/ AUSTRIA, michaela.holzweber@aau.at

Joint-Study: Ms. Elena Buffa/International Office/ Universitätsstraße 65-67/ 9020 Klagenfurt/ AUSTRIA, elena.buffa@aau.at

We can print out all of the grades that appear black on your list as Transcript of Records. Please note that grades written in grey won’t appear on the official documents, because they haven’t been approved so far. So what do you have to do to receive your Transcript?

  • Check if you have received all your grades. If not: please contact the appropriate professor or institute.
  • If all of your grades are listed (important: they have to appear black on the list, not grey. If they appear grey, it means that they have not yet been confirmed by our admission office and you have to wait for their approval) please send an email containing your matriculation number, the academic year/semester and the complete name of your home institution to michaela.holzweber@aau.at or  elena.buffa@aau.at

And we can send you a scan of the Transcript of Records.

  •  If you need the original document, please also give us a postal address (your home address or the address of the International Office at your university) to which the Transcript should be sent.
