LTC is actively engaged in the field of standards testing in Austria. In collaboration with BIFIE the LTC started to develop an English Standards Test in 2005 (reading, listening, writing, speaking) for Austrian pupils attending grade 8. At the end of this 3-year project in 2009 a baseline study was conducted in which 10 percent of all Austrian pupils in grade 8 were tested in Reading and Listening, and a certain sample of these in Writing and Speaking. In the future this English Standards Test will take place every three years.

At BIFIE’s request, LTC has taken on a 3-year project aiming at creating English materials for informal assessment for grades 6 and 7 in the four skills of Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking. These materials are publicly available to English teachers in grammar school (AHS) and secondary school (APS).

In the course of a 1-year project, LTC developed, in cooperation with Dr. Manuela Glaboniat (German Department at the University of Klagenfurt) and a group of practising elementary teachers, German standards tests for grade 4. The D4 Standards Tests included Reading, Writing and Language Awareness items.
