Course of Study Objectives

This subject helps to fulfill the need for qualified graduates who possess a sound knowledge in the management of media. It is without question that the development of the media and communication technologies over the last several years in comparison to other developments have had one of the most profound effects on society, its individuals, and companies. In many areas a sound knowledge of technology and media is an important success factor for not only companies, however, for individual careers as well. At the same time the convergence of the media is playing an ever more important role.

In the eyes of the students of Business Administration the study of Media Management provides the students with an expanded knowledge in relation to newly-developing media while improving the students’ qualifications. This concentration of study therefore improves the job-outlook for students upon graduation. The interdisciplinary nature of the concentration provides the students of Business Administration with a view of the cultural scientific aspects of media management.
Furthermore the concentration in Media Management particularly provides a coordinated course of study for the students of the Cultural Sciences who seek further business qualifications in the course of their studies.

In the eyes of companies the University, with the offering of this subject, will develop students who are competent in their understanding of the latest developments in media and technology and the subsequent effects of these developments on business and society.

The addition of this subject of study only adds further to the educational profile of the Alpen-Adria University of Klagenfurt. Through its focus on media and convergence management as well as its clear interdisciplinary orientation the study of Media Management provides a valuable differentiating factor when compared to the offerings of other educational institutions.
