| Description |
In OFDM transmission the time synchronization of transmitter and receiver needs to be ensured more than in many other transmission methods - the receiver needs to know when one processing block starts and ends in order to do the best possible recovery of the information.
Since in UW-OFDM, the block ends are marked with a deterministic sequence, which should offer an advantage over traditional synchronization methods. New methods are to be investigated and compared to currently used techniques.

| Estimation of the Carrier Frequency Offset in UW‑OFDM transmission |

| Description |
A crucial aspect for OFDM transmission is the exact same carrier frequency in transmitter and receiver.
Due to circuitry reasons, temperature or Doppler effects this is usually not a trivial task. The novel use of a Unique Word (UW) in OFDM transmission offers new possibilities to deal with this issue. These are to be investigated and compared to state-of-the-art performances. |

| Implementation of Efficient Signal Processing Algorithms on FPGAs |
| Status | available |
| Advisor | Univ.-Prof. Dr. Mario Huemer |
| Contact | Dipl.-Ing. Christian Lederer |
| E-Mail | |
| Phone | +43 (0)463 2700 3667 |
| Description | Algorithms which are often used in digital signal processing shall be implemented and tested on an FPGA. Starting with the theoretical algorithm or with a Matlab implementation, these algorithms shall be programmed in VHDL and afterwards tested on the hardware. |

| Description | A lot of operating systems for embedded microcontrollers are available on the market. Aim of this project is to set up and test several operating systems with the NIOS II microprocessor. Here also the access to the peripheral hardware out of the operating system shall be tested and documented.
