Kardinal-Innitzer-Förderungspreis an Mario Huemer

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Mario Huemer wurde mit dem Kardinal-Innitzer-Förderungspreis für herausragende wissenschaftliche Leistungen im Bereich Naturwissenschaften und Technik ausgezeichnet.
Mario Huemer wurde für seine Arbeiten und Publikationen auf dem Gebiet der Frequenzbereichsentzerrung für Einträger-Übertragungssysteme gewürdigt. Diese Technik wird u.a. im zukünftigen Mobilfunkstandard LTE (Long Term Evolution), dem UMTS-Nachfolgesystem, zur Anwendung kommen.

Analog and Mixed Signal Design Contest
Die beiden Klagenfurter Informationstechnikstudenten Dominik Egarter und Christoph Unterrieder erreichten mit ihrem Projekt PMOT (Playing Music over Tesla) den 2. Platz des ersten Europäischen „TI Analog and Mixed Signal Design Contest“ und durften sich über 4.000 Euro Preisgeld freuen.

NES third-party funding exceeds 2 million Euro per year!

Since its foundation in the year 2007, the Institute of Networked and Embedded Systems (NES) has acquired 6.4 million Euro of third-party research funding, corresponding to a monthly rate of 50.000 EUR per professor. The grants and contracts include about 1.5 million from the EU, 1 million from national funds, 1 million from industry, and 2.5 million via the Lakeside Labs research cluster. By the end of this year, NES will provide 40 full-time jobs for ICT researchers, where 3/4 of them are funded externally.

Spatio-Temporal Prediction in Video Coding
On March 2^nd the Embedded Systems and Signal Processing Group will welcome a guest researcher from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Dipl.-Ing. Jürgen Seiler. He will give a presentation on March 5^th at 5pm in room E.1.42. The topic will focus on Spatio-Temporal Prediction in Video Coding.
