The mobile systems group at the University of Klagenfurt works on the design, modeling, and analysis of future networked communication systems, with focus on mobile and wireless networking. We are engaged in research on algorithms and protocols, networking theory, modeling and simulation aspects, and system architectures. A major focus is on networked systems of embedded devices and 4G networks with applications to telecommunications, pervasive computing, and automotive. Four networking paradigms are in the core of our activitites: self-organization, ad hoc relaying, cooperation, and mobility. Within this context, our current projects investigate cooperative relaying in ad hoc networks, distributed time synchronization, mobility in sparse wireless networks, and network coding. Most activitites are in close cooperation with industrial or academic partners.
Our teaching activities cover lectures, exercises, labs, and seminars for the study programs "information technology" and "informatics". We offer master and PhD courses in the areas of networking, mobile networks, and wireless communications as well as an undergraduate course on electricity and magnetism.
