Courses

Pervasive Computing uses information and communication technologies to interconnect the physical and digital worlds. Computer components are becoming smaller and cheaper, making them suitable for embedding in everyday objects; they can also communicate with each other via wireless networks.  This technology is rapidly finding its way into every aspect of our lives. Whether it's how we shop, how we get from one place to another or how we communicate, pervasive computing is clearly woven into the way we live.

The Pervasive Computing Group covers the most important aspects of this rapidly evolving discipline in its teaching portfolio. We offer courses for the studies of information technology and informatics at the Bachelor-, Master- and PhD-level.  The lectures cover fundamentals, technologies and applications of pervasive computing. Dedicated lab courses help students to get practical experiences, and seminars address recent topics of pervasive computing research.

Bachelor Study „Informationstechnik“

We currently offer the following courses for the Bachelor study „Informationstechnik“:
• Design of Digital Circuits („Entwurf digitaler Schaltungen“)  (VO & KU)
• Experiments for ICT Lab course (“IKT-Grundlagenlabor”)  (KU)

Master Study “Information Technology” – Technical Focus “Pervasive Computing”

The following figure depicts the courses of our course catalog on “Pervasive Computing”.  This catalog of the curricular is organized in courses on fundamentals in pervasive computing (bottom) and on research-oriented topics (middle).  Students acquire significant theoretical and practical knowledge on a specific topic during their master theses (top).  We advise students focusing on pervasive computing to first attend the classes on fundamentals and continue then with research-oriented classes and the master thesis work.

PhD Study

We offer research seminars on special topics and privatissima for PhD students.  The required courses for completing a PhD study will be selected based on the research topic and the candidate’s qualification.
