Faculty of Technical Sciences

The Faculty of Technical Sciences is primarily focussing on computing, information, and communication technologies and their theoretical foundations as well as on Informatics and Mathematics education. To this end, the faculty hosts nine institutes informally grouped in the four departments Informatics (INF), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Technical Mathematics (TEMA), and Didactics of Informatics and Mathematics (DIM) (NB: the four departments are of logical nature only and do not represent formal organizational units).

In addition, the faculty runs Lakeside Labs, an external research institute focussing on Self-Organizing Networked Systems.

Corresponding to its structure, the Faculty of Technical Sciences is offering study programmes in Technical Mathematics, Informatics, and Information Technology, as well as Information Management (in cooperation with the Faculty of Business Administration). In addition study programs conferring secondary school teacher accreditation are available for Mathematics and Informatics - cf. »Academic Programmes«. All programmes can be studied on the bachelor, master (»Dipl.-Ing.«, »MEd«), and doctorate (»Dr. techn.«, »Dr. rer. nat.«) level.

A note on terminology: What we call »Faculty« may be better known as »School« in your area; also our term »Institute« as a constituent of a faculty may be better known as »Department«. However, our choice perfectly reflects the original terminology in German.
