INEPT’s Christmasshow 2009
What does sunscreen have to do with cheese fondue? How disappointed can a horse really look? And why in the world are solar-powered underpants important to get a Christmas tree? You might find the answer at the Bus Stop or just do what any good Venezuelan cook would do - deny it altogether. If you feel your lips curl up and your forehead wrinkle into a question mark, asking, “What the…?”, then you have found yourself in the fabulous world of INEPT. In a spicy and eclectic performance the Independent English Player’s Theatre (INEPT) managed to take the audience in their Christmas Show on a crazy ride through randomness and left them amazed how fast the time had passed. Koala bears were ‘slaughtered’ for a Muffin Man who insisted on Wiener Schnitzel in Venezuela, memory games were seized by uncontrollably grunting pirates, obscene words in Hungarian were taught to innocent sales people and eventually human appliances with the ability to expertly trip and seduce alike were purchased. An unexpected experience, smartly rounded off with the fiery passion of Bollywood dancers whose performance left people wondering whether some things on stage were actually intended to happen or not… After all, the final destination of that random ride might have just been a figment of the imagination?
The show must go on
INEPT’s new year started off with a blast – and this is just the beginning because actors and actresses are already pretty busy again: Right before International Women’s Day, on March 4th, 5th and 6th, 2010 INEPT will host V-Day’s follow-up play by Eve Ensler ‘The Vagina Monologues’, namely ‘A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer’ - a play that has a somewhat different focus, a great message and that is deeply touching. By arranging another V-Day charity performance to fight violence against women and girls, both locally and globally, INEPT has found a new approach to acting which will surely once more surprise the audience.
