Helene Sorgner

MA, Master of Arts

Research interests (Forschungsschwerpunkte)

As a sociologist and philosopher of science, I study how knowledge is produced, established and evaluated. I am interested in the epistemic practices, the social and material conditions, and the values and expectations involved in doing research within different scientific disciplines. My previous work has focused on the role of scientific expertise in democratic decision-making and the use of laboratory experiments as a method in economics.

I am currently a doctoral researcher in the FWF project "Producing novelty and securing credibility: LHC experiments in STS-perspective" within the research unit The Epistemology of the Large Hadron Collider.
